M. Grace Designs, Inc. is a Chicago-based interior design firm dedicated to
providing customized, functional design solutions for commercial, residential,
and entertainment clients.
As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, M. Grace Designs proudly
practices “Green Design” in an effort to protect the natural environment. Green
Design refers to design and construction practices that significantly reduce
or eliminate the negative impact of buildings on their occupants and the
environment. Our own goals in practicing Green Design are to increase
workplace productivity, enhance energy efficiency through energy-efficient
lighting systems, and conserve natural resources by educating our client’s
about earth friendly products. We are passionate about the way we have
made sustainability a way of life for the good of our clients, for ourselves,
and for our future generations.
M. Grace Sielaff has 17 years experience in commercial, and residential
interior design. She received her Interior Architecture degree from Mundelein
at Loyola University of Chicago, allied member of the American Society of
Interior Designers, and the United States Green Building Council. In addition
to her business endeavors, Grace is actively involved with the Chicago
Conservation Corp Leader training, through the Chicago Department of
Environment, Coalition Member of the California Air and Resources Board
(CARB) and serves on the Board of Directors for the Chinese American Service
League.
Before founding M. Grace Designs, Grace was business development manager
for Corporate Business Systems, a preferred Haworth dealer where she won
national accounts including the Brunswick Corporation, NSK America, and
Valero Natural Gas. Her firm’s experience ranges from designing traditional
North Shore homes to modern contemporary lofts along the lake in Chicago.
Her personal style mixes the eclectic and elegant, with unusual color
combinations and appealing textures and patterns.
M. Grace Designs have been featured in national and regional publications
and television shows including Chicago Luxury Home and Condo, StyleChicago,
Garden Design magazine, Spectacular HOMES, The MTV PRODUCTION,
HGTV- Home & Garden Television, Fine Furnishings International magazine,
Chicago HOME magazine, and Kohler.com. M. Grace Designs have also

The Bold Look of Kohler
LEED
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) developed by the
US Green Building Council, is a self Assessing System designed for rating
new and existing commercial, institutional, and high-rise residential
buildings. It evaluates Environmental performance from a “Whole Building”
perspective over a building’s life cycle, providing a definitive standard for
what constitutes a “green building”. The Council members work together
to develop industry standards, design guidelines, and educational tools
that support the sustainable design and building practices.
LEED was created to:
• Define “Green Building” by establishing a common standard of
measurement.
• Promote integrated, building design practices.
• Stimulates green competition.
• Raise consumer awareness of green design and building benefits.
LEED provides a complete framework for assessing building performance
and meeting sustainability goals. It emphasizes strategies for sustainable
site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selection and
indoor air quality.
LEED recognizes achievements and promotes expertise in green building
and design trough a complete system offering project certification,
professional accreditation and training.
We at M. Grace Designs, Inc. support this commitment to protect our

CARB
On January 25, 2007 the California Air Resources Board (CARB) will hold a
hearing that will profoundly impact manufacturers of decorative panels,
millwork and cabinetry made and sold in the state of California. At this
hearing CARB is expected to make a landmark decision regarding the
reduction of formaldehyde emissions in products that can affect air
quality and public health.
We invite you to join a broad-based coalition of public health, consumer,
business and environmental advocates to promote stricter standards
regarding -- and the eventual phase-out of -- formaldehyde emissions in
plywood and composite panel products. The regulations are coming,
and together we can play a crucial part in shaping public policy. For
